So, what's to do in Atlanta other than Dragon*Con (and Waffle House)?

Also, who's going?

I'll be at D*C, mostly hanging around the Brittrack events. I was born in Atlanta and lived there for nearly 20 years. However, it keeps changing, so there's a lot of stuff that has grown, moved or disappeared since I lived there. But I visit fairly regularly. I haven't been around downtown Atlanta in ages, so I can't make any recommendations there. But Midtown Atlanta, which isn't far away, is a cool neighborhood in a gentrified, artsy, large-gay-population sort of way. And Piedmont Park is lovely to walk around, or at least it was a few years ago.

I hesitate to make restaurant recommendations for you, but I adore The Flying Biscuit. There's one in Midtown and one near Little 5 Points (the more punk/hippie/artsy/dykey neighborhood that's farther from downtown but still accessible). They're on the Web if you want to check out their menu. Fab breakfast food, not too expensive, good service. There are several cool little neighborhoods in Atlanta where there are nice shops and good restaurants, two of which are along Highland Ave. You could also just drive down Peachtree St., Piedmont Ave. or Ponce de Leon Ave. and see what you come across.
