Gallifrey One: I fucking told you so
Sep. 15th, 2008 04:33 pmGareth David-Lloyd is gonna be a guest at Gallifrey One. I've been telling you people this for weeks.
Did no one on my friends list notice this because it was announced on 9/11? Because I just found out now.
ha!

Okay, maybe that's obliterated a bit of my sulk over Chicago.
And, DAMN, I didn't get a brunch ticket this time...

Date: 2008-09-15 08:49 pm (UTC)Also, right now I have actually booked a hotel for Thursday through Sunday nights, because I learned my lesson at Dragon*Con. Although I may eventually bag the Thursday night and just fly in really early on Friday. I have this vague theory of actually coming out even earlier and taking the week and trying to do appropriate actorly things out there, but I hate LA so much, I suspect that won't actually happen.

Date: 2008-09-15 09:16 pm (UTC)Thing is, pre-reg for the next year (including brunch tickets) go on sale on the last day of the current year's con. Brunch tix *always* sell out at the convention - so unless you have someone there at the con willing to buy the ticket for you, you're SOL. I was just too far back in the line, this time, to get a ticket. Sigh. It was definitely worth it, though, even tho' it's something like $40 - the con staff 'rotate' the guests through, so everyone will spend 10 minutes or so at your table with half a dozen fans. I've done it the once and it was fun.
Programming begins at noon on Friday. If you can afford it, I'd recommend flying in on Thursday night. I've done Friday morning and Thursday night arrivals and MUCH prefer Thursday night - it gives me a chance to unpack, look over the program, corner guests into an early cocktail at the bar, etc, etc. ;)

Date: 2008-09-15 09:25 pm (UTC)I should start looking for roomies although, honestly, I rather hope I have enough in my tax refund to afford my own space. After spending all day at the con going at Mach 1, my own chill-out area would be nice. But at the price the LAX Marriot charges... ($150/night, iirc) I don't think it'll be feasible...
