Meanwhile, there's a new clip up at http://www.australiamovie.com

To which my main reaction is "Oh, Baz...."

Because, I love this shit. But I know for everyone who feels like me, there are people going "are you fucking kidding me?"

So psyched for this damn film.

Also, I seriously need to do some damn work, because otherwise I'm just going to sit here wibbling over this photo: http://www.australiamovie.net/gallery/albums/scans/normal_australiamoviedotnet_scan_MensVogueNov08_7.jpg

Oh, wow. Oh, just wow. And with two actually-Australian leads.

Mythic, man. Mythic. It's a well-cut trailer. It actually hit my sniffle buttons.

Looks very cool. But nothing over at that site seems to have anything written down...it's all video clips or podcasts... :-P

Found this http://www.australiamovie.net/
which gives me more context for the gorgeous cinematography at the original site :)

And thank you for that, as it makes it quite clear I really, really have to go pick up the November Men's Vogue.

That is lame, and if I knew people in the Baz empire, I'd send a missive over there (well, I'd do a lot of things).

The trailer and clips are very low on dialog, so you're not actually missing much of anything, but a plot synopsis as well as transcripts of the production podcasts shouldn't be that hard for them (invariably, Bazmark projects always have really rad websites, but they never seem to get it together until release date or after).

I swear that the music in the trailer is from Patrick Doyle's score for Kenneth Branagh's 'Henry V'.

Part of it is, yes. Trailers almost always use music not from the film, but often from other films.

I dropped you a note over at [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry two weeks ago, but haven't heard back from you yet, so I thought I'd try here. You won a batch of GF peanut-butter brownies from me, so I'm trying to find out if the weather is now cool enough in your region for me to send them. Or is there another specific time you'd rather receive them? Thanks.

Hey, sorry, things have been fucked around here (long litany of stuff not that interesting but includes friends and family with medical crises and my house getting burgled. I will get on this this week.

Luhrmann is one of a very few directors whose movies I'll go to see, just because he made them. (Three- now four- movies in, and he already has a style the way Scorsese has a style.)

I've been really curious to see if there's an actual style-shift with this film, since he's been so adamant about viewing this as the first of a second trilogy of films stylistically, but so far, I'm like "dude, same stuff, more dirt!" which is just fine by me. Even the structure of the trailer adheres partially to the Red Curtain tenants. He's so fucking smart I just don't know what to do with myself. I hope he shuts up about wanting out of the business within ten years.

He's the modern-day Cecil B. Demille. Either you love it or you hate it.

Enjoy the show!

There is a Baz audience (which, forever after Topsy Turvy includes me); I bet the Jackman will pull everybody in.

Topsy Turvy isn't Luhrmann, although the movie is well within the spirit of his work.

Argh. Sorry. My brain is nowhere and I had mushed it up with Moulin Rouge. Which I also love.

Topsy Turvy is one of the most astounding films I've ever seen though. It's so smart and it so pretends to be about one thing and then blindsides you with what it's really doing in the last ten minutes.

It took us a long time to get to see it, because it was sold out EVERYWHERE here. Which is so cool.

That trailer is rather intriguing! Nicole's Queen's (King's) English accent is very impressive as well.

Oh, that is DEFINITELY a Baz Luhrmann movie, in the best possible sense.
