Patty has boarded her flight. I am completely exhausted and wrung out. In a day or two I will be used to this as the status of things until she arrives back in the States on March 17, but right now, it's hard and it's tiring and I am not used to it.

Separations can be really hard, even when there's a strong career-developing reason for it. I know I struggled when Mark moved away for luthiery school and again when he moved to Maryland before I did. I wish you peace with it.

We're pretty good with it -- her first dig was three weeks after we got together. I know what I signed up for, and she likes it, and that helps a lot.

Yes, totally. I'll be mildly crazy for the next week as I get back into work/fencing and the cat surgery thing, but maybe later in January!

I saw your entries about the cat earlier and felt bad. We went through some panic with both of ours this past spring and summer (and spent more than we could truly afford on vet bills). I hope that the surgery goes well.
