Patty has boarded her flight. I am completely exhausted and wrung out. In a day or two I will be used to this as the status of things until she arrives back in the States on March 17, but right now, it's hard and it's tiring and I am not used to it.

Patty and I have never had phone (we don't even use it when she's away in the States really) on her digs. We think she'll have Internet on this one, but right now, I don't even have an address for her in Oman to write to her. They're renting a house or deciding which house or something when she gets there, so she should be able to tell me soon.

Does she blog much about her work? I'm very curious.

And...I know this will sound odd, but I also think you'll get it..there's something kinda sweet/romantic about plotting how to get communications to your loved one when they're so far away..

Yup. So much of our courtship was based on letters because her first dig was three weeks after we started dating. So that's why even with Internet, it's important to us that we can exchange paper letters ( I wrote her one for the plane, she left one here for me).

I have a fondness for putting short letters in plastic bottles and mailing them thusly. :)
