Do your worst.

[For my visually impaired readers: picture is an advertisement for a hotel discount that makes all sorts of Doctor Who references -- there's a Tardis-blue suitcase, the legs of some dude in pin-striped slacks and chucks, and a horrible pink color used for a recent companion's clothes. The Internet is assuming a geeky designer put one over on their clients, but we actually have no idea. We might just be crazy.]

I don't think you're crazy. I went right there, too...

Unfortunately, beyond that, I've got nothin'.

I didn't spot it, but I'm willing to agree that it might have been deliberate. That's a distinctively weathered Blue.

When I started reading your description I stopped at "Doctor Who references" and looked for myself - I caught the chucks, and that the subject is travel (with the implication of spontaneity and "go anywhere"), but I didn't see the pinstriped until I squinted, and the garish pink made the blue just look blue to me.

This may just make me a Bad Fan at the moment, as I'm more obsessed with relating everything to my own writing instead of the good Doctor.

Haha. That's amusing. PS. Thanks for describing it for those of us with crappy eyes. Most don't think to do that. Kharmic cookie for you.

Taken at a glance, it looks like a negotiated tie-in.
So, not particularly crazy, or no more so than is our common custom.

I thought you were reaching...

But I totally see it.

I'd have to assume I'd tell my clients about it. Because I have to assume they'd be pretty pissed about it when it went "viral". And they should have put the URL on the ad itself since it's not getting them any extra traffic.

(You know, you might actually want to put a link on it an help our Doctor Who fan out. If they sell more we help him out)

I totally saw it the first time I saw the ad, but assume it's cast at UK viewers anyway, and that most people would be stupid, blind, or have their heads in the sand if they didn't see at least a few of the references and assume DW (the UK viewers, that is).

I suspect the clients did indeed realize it was done deliberately and approved it; it's just subtle is all. Or as subtle as DW references in a travel ad get without using an actual TARDIS.

See, I caught all of the Doctor Who references AND thought it was a Jack/Doctor/Rose OT3 reference.

I am going to the special hell.
