Date: 2009-01-11 06:17 pm (UTC)Your belt, is that antique by chance? Looks similar to one I had once gifted that I had found in D.C. But hard to tell from the pic.
Thanks for sharing :)

But to see the enire belt is just - beautiful. An ammo belt that was issued the British/Canadian Victorian Calvary.
Actually found in an antique store on King Street in Olde Town Alexandria (NOT nearly technically DC), some 15 or so years ago.
It was ssooooo sweet.
blargh
Thanks again.

Date: 2009-01-11 06:26 pm (UTC)The boots, hilariously are from Forever 21 (cheap store with clothes for like college age folks), but we were in one in Ohio, and they had these fantastic boots. The nice thing about brown is cheap can look weathered.

Date: 2009-01-11 06:32 pm (UTC)I have a pair of 1858 style US Cavalry boots that I got made in Mexico about ten years ago now. I haven't worn them much in recent years, but they're still good. I did put a pair of Dr. Sholls sport insoles into them, which made a huge difference in comfort.

Completely unrelated, but I thought if your LJ posts, and that you may be interested. We are cleaning out our closets, and SO has a German military coat that you may be interested in. I want to say that it's a 40 or 42, but you could tear it apart and alter it. Would you be interested? I could take a photo. It's free to a good home, and we have way too many military coats and reenacting gear here.
