- I got a letter from Patty today. This was her second letter, mailed about 8 weeks ago. Lord knows what happened to the first one. But it was lovely and strange.

- I am the last person on earth to discover Abney Park. I have a sneaking suspicion I am too old to be totally into this nonsense, but there's 80s DNA in there, just more menacing. So, er, yeah. AWESOME.

- On that note, a note to self: Don't listen to some random song by the new band you've just discovered (okay, ages after everyone else has) on repeat while reading Torchwood tentacle porn fanfiction, lest that song become forever associated with, well, tentacles.

- Combining these elements into a single post, I feel the need to apologize to both Patty (who is laughing is she can see this) and Abney Park, who presumably wouldn't give a damn even if they did see this.

Are you flying this year? Why do I think you drove last year?

Because I did drive last year. All 11-ish hours of it. It was glorious.

OTOH, I witnessed not one but two horrific accidents between the Georgia state line and Atlanta. The speed limit isn't even a suggestion -- I was doing 85 and being passed swiftly, and on the right at that -- and I am terrified that someone murder me with stupid on that highway.

So yeah, I'm going to start shopping for flights in May, as that's roughly when I'll be able to accumulate the scratch. First proper flight and everything. (Not first time in the air, though: I've been in a military copter and a hot air balloon.)

Dude really?

I'll probably be finally replying to your email today. But if you want the "what airlines are not the devil" and "where to go for fares thing" let me know.

I do not say no to useful advice from experienced parties. I don't always take all of it, but it's usually quite helpful in my decision-making process. So!

But yeah, really. I spent 40 minutes at the bottom of a hill with my windows open and my engine off reading one of Jon Stewart's books because of one of them. The other one I buzzed past almost too fast to see it, but it was not pretty.

Better part of valor and all that.

What airlines are not the devil?
