You know what to do. :)

(Also, why do I share? John C Wright is a SF/F pro, and considering most of the consumers of SF/F I know are LGBTQ or allies, I thought you might want to know whose books not to buy).

Yeah, you can shut down the comments, but we can still tell the world you're a bigot who can't construct an argument. One advocates for not paying for you work, the other advocates for not reading it at all.

Thanks for playing. Also, I heard scads of people emailed Tor.

Can't wait to watch!

This morning, I edited the Wikipedia spam that called him a batshit homophobe, because that would have gotten flat-out erased. I'm hoping that my more encylopediesque way of saying the same thing will be allowed to persist.

In an odd way, I appreciate bigots who are so completely open about their hatred, because it makes it so much easier for me to know whose books not to buy.

Yeah, I had a quick squint at that article, and I think the current comment is more NPOV.

Dear oh dear. Just looking at the paragraph above the line as emended by yourself (the one talking about how he converted from atheism to Catholicism, and the comments he made) made me go a bit "danger Will Robinson!"

Forgive me, I had to do it. I didn't troll. I edited the comment to remove as much vitriol and condescension as I could find. But I couldn't just let him spew his spit without making my opposition known. :\

Wow, I commented much more gently than I wanted. But it felt so good.

Thanks for the heads up.

Sheesh... people... I just... bah!

I don't quite know why it feels incongruous, or why it still surprises me after all these years, but I'm always a little shocked when I encounter a full-on, genuine bigot in a creative profession.

So is there a list out there of SF writers who are not, as the contempoary jargon has it, walking around pantsless?

I have that too. My parents owned an art gallery when I was a baby and are both exhibiting artists (among other things) so the creative professions have always been my world and this shit shocks me. Even my parents' own homophobia never looked like this.

What interests me is that I tried to follow the link, and it's blocked by our corporate proxy. That's the first LJ site I've encountered that is.

An hour ago, I clicked on fanfic that was one step shy of porn, got through no problem. Then again, from your comments, sounds like this is far more offensive. No wonder the corp proxy blocked it.

But that's the joy of freedom of speech. It reminds us that there are still people with their heads so far up their rears that they can see their amygdala.

Not clicking because between all this fail and the health care insanity my blood pressure can't handle it. But I can guess.

I've been personally unable to post a comment in response because to be at my Snapely best, I'd have to read each and every word of his diatribe and be witty and vicious in response, but my eyes keep sliding off the horror.

Is it bad that this comment made me giggle imagining Snape lash at it with red ink quill (or a well aimed AK)?

I'm just glad I was never actually in SFF fandom and now watching people whose books I loved reveal themselves to be utter assholes one by one by one. I'm just observing from the outside, boggling.

Not at all! You didn't know me when my cosplay of choice was Snape. Which was SO RAD for cons, because I could tell off creepy people and assholes and say I was just being in character. Sadly, cosplaying Jack means I have to be super-gregarious even around people I can't stand.

Same here. The post just boggled me nine ways around. As the first commenter at the post asked, it was hard to tell how much was him being sarcastic and erudite and how much of it was him being completely bonkers/bigoted.

Then he started to respond to comments...
