Sadly, this dress is cut 1.5" smaller than the size listed on the site says, and will not fit me, because while I'm quite slim, I do not actually have a 23" waist (although I suppose there are underpinnings that could make that happen).

So, I still need a "I'm only cosplaying in my head" dress for Dragon*Con. I'm currently considering:

a) this or this, although I worry a little about how the red would look on me.

b) this because OMG. It also seems to be not in stock yet. Which is a potential issue if this is really about D*C.

C) this, eventhough I shouldn't because it's expensive and gives me conflicted feelings about the orientalist decor of my grandparents's house in my childhood, which is one of those things I should take the time to write about.

HELP ME INTERNETS!

Also, why is it every, single time I find the perfect retro dress with white and navy blue polkadots, it's immediately not available in my size?

Um, getting back to the point, I like A. Not in red.

I second [livejournal.com profile] eac! I like the one in black and honey!

Do you have an alterationist close to you? Are the seam allowances in the dress you like wide enough to let out?

My paternal grandparents had a Far Eastern theme to their decor which carried over into mine, as my grandfather had a set of living room tables made after WWII when he was stationed in the Pacific. He also did three tours in Hawaii.

I'd like to say it was tasteful but, it's the recollections of 40 year old. It seemed tasteful and elegant to me, especially when compared to what passed for culture in rural southern Virginia in the 1970s! ;-p
