  • [livejournal.com profile] keori comes through with just how involved in the anti-marriage equality thing the Mormon church is. I do need to say, however, that I object to the expression of the violence fantasy in the first comment to the post. We do not need to up the violence rhetoric in any direction lest it encourage people to cross the line into action; it's a point we're sadly very close to.

  • And, CNN reports that 1 in 4 people are Muslim. Random informational news story or on their front page because this random fact about faith will scare lots of people into lots of page views? How long until this article is part of some hate-filled forward that, if I'm really lucky, will show up inappropriately on my Harry Potter mailing list?

  • But is politics isn't to your taste, that's okay. You can indulge in romanticizing criminals instead. This article comes complete with a random use of the "feral child" adjective. Buh?

  • Now, it doesn't take a lot to convince me that there are some crimes for which their perpetrators need to die. However, that's really, really not a business I want my government in from wrongful convictions to cost overruns to just raw incompetence. So, being anti-death penalty, I need to direct you to this link roundup from [livejournal.com profile] vichan about an ongoing situation in Ohio, which is super disturbing. I point, in particular to the "Are you okay?" "No" moment, which jumped out, unfortunately, I suppose, at the writer in me.

  • New legislation in Oklahoma seeks to put private data about abortions online, in a manner that's not only a medical privacy violation, but statistically misleading.

  • Remember that hideous painting I linked you to the other day? Well now someone has put up a new version with all the text changed. Thanks to Patty for finding both versions.

  • A list of Sydney's fancy dress shops informs us we can dress up like Aeroplane Jelly. Australia, I love you.

  • Xenophobia and the Lambert. Embarrassingly, in an article that's supposed to be about other people's fail, the random gratuitous Quaddafi mention was pretty much its own fail. Oh, New York Times, I don't really love you.

  • Holy crap, Peter Davison, pulled out of Gally 2010 (he's on for Gally 2011), but more positive guest announcements are coming soon.

  • Also, and this is specifically for [livejournal.com profile] redstapler and [livejournal.com profile] marchek, Tony's going to be at DWNY on the 28th, so we as the Torchwood Lesbians (bwuh?!) need to be there, although it's not really the ideal environment for the 2009 Catty Precog Gally Reunion Gossip Dissemination Beerfest.

  • Little kitty is squeaking in her sleep.

  • In most cases, the phrase you are looking for is for all intents and purposes not for all intensive purposes. Thank you.

  • Also, don't forget, tomorrow is Bomb the Moon Day!

Matthew 25:40, for example: "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (KJV)

    Yes, that is so liberal.

Obviously the correct translation is "...inasmuch as ye have done it to a fertilized human egg, ye have done it unto me."

They go on about it at the link I cited. I'd try to explain it, but my brain exploded while I was reading it, and I couldn't do it justice.

I tried to read the link before commenting. But the first page didn't elaborate as to what the liberal bias is, and I got about as far as their want to abolish unisex language before deciding it's not worth reading the link to find out first-hand.

Don't forget restoring the parables to their original pro-free-market stance. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Oh, but don't you see now? That was Jesus' original message!

It can be summed up in their goal to "debunk the pervasive and hurtful myth that Jesus would be a political liberal today."

Also if you can get past the wtf-ness, the part about how socialism is in the Bible because of how many times the word "comrade" is used, is pretty funny.

I can't even find words to describe my reaction.

Besides "I'll be over here, laughing now."
