I know I really want to see the thing, but as it's a short, I've no idea how that's going to happen, but I'm sure it will surface somewhere or other eventually.

I'd be inclined to say the community will Find A Way. Also, if the production folks have Facebookery, or what have you, they may be up for helping make it happen. I know of at least one filmmaker who was quietly sending DVDs to folks while he was trying to secure Actual Distribution, as it were.
