If you think that my equality under the law - MY CIVIL RIGHTS - is legitimately and appropriately the subject of a vote...

If you think that LGBTQ people shouldn't have the right to marry people of their choosing or be protected from things like job and housing discrimination...

GET OUT OF MY LIVING ROOM.

This journal is that living room, and I am not here to entertain you while also begging for crumbs of respect.

I like you. I like your brain and the places it goes, but I've never thought that you were here for my entertainment. I consider it a privilege to sit in your living room.

Thank you. And I am sorry about the wide blase radius of my anger right now.

I don't think you have anything to apologize for there. I'm not exactly taking the Maine results all that calmly myself, and I'm not directly affected by them.

I'm also unhappy that WA 71 was anything like close. I think the campaign against it pretty decisively blasts the "oh, if we just let them have their MAGIC WORD they'll support equal rights" argument out of the water. (Also, giving up to them on that just lets them move the Overton Window. DO NOT WANT.)

You don't have anything to apologize for.

Your anger is normal, expected and understandable.

Your wide-blast-radius of anger is quite understandable. I come under attack from different quarters and for different causes than you do, but it's still a rotten feeling.

I am sorry that you are angry right now. just...what THE FUCK IS This VOTE SHIT. This is the most ...

it's fucking sly, it's the slyest passive aggressive discrimination and hate tactic by government i've ever witnessed. This is CRAP. It's BULLSHIT. it's a way to use easily manipulated and socially activated stupid ASSHOLES to play out a charade that looks fair, when it's nothing more than buck passing. this work should be the responsibility of legislators acting as representatives.

but if they let the common people decide, then what happens isn't their fault.

I can put my hands on the names of every single member of parliament who voted against bill c-38, and tell them to their face that I won't vote for them because I don't want anyone who thinks that some people should have more rights than others representing me.

so fucking mad I could choke.
