Okay, so a few days ago, someone in Glee fandom tracked down a particular scarf that was used on the show that I wanted.

It was from last season at Old Navy, and it was online on mark down for $4.97.

I ordered it, paid twice as much for shipping, and was amused.

Then I realized it was being shipped via FedEx. This is a problem because FedEx can't deliver to our apartment -- we don't have a buzzer.

So I called FedEx to either have it held at a center or delivered to my parents' house instead. They said they could not do this and I'd have to call the Gap for permission. Oh right, Old Navy is owned by the Gap. Lolarious.

Anyway, I call the fucking Gap, they call FedEx while I'm on hold and say it will be delivered to my parents house on Tuesday.

Which is why I was more than a tiny bit boggled when it showed up yesterday, at our house, in our USPS mailbox where it shouldn't have been able to get.

So I am glad that worked, but lolarious scarf is lolarious. Also, HOW did that work?

Not to ruin the magic, but there's a FedEx service called SmartPost where they hand the package off to the local post office for final delivery. Potentially they used that? Or it was just lolarious magic. :)

Nope, checked the bag, also:

the last communication I had from them and the package tracking confirmed it was being delivered to my parent's flat today.

I mean whatever thing they did that secretly makes sense to them, I'm all for, but I remain puzzled (also, I want to figure it out since there's this whole thing where getting packages here is hard).

The GAP!

HAHAHA!

You know, when I was about 15 or so, I was sure that GAP (not just the store, but also the famous gap of the London Underground) was acronym for "Gay And Proud". Just a funny thing, which gave me a kick when I saw the "Gap" ep on Glee.

I'm mildly curious to find out if another scarf arrives at your parent's place, too. But I'm glad you have it!

I am also wondering this. Since the scarf is now entirely unavailable, I'm sure I will be able to find some Glee fan who will be very grateful if I wind up with two.

That's weird! You'd think they'd have another option for shipping, anyway.

I love the FedEx deliveryperson we have - she knocks and leaves it by the door, along with two dog biscuits. :D

LOL Sorry any mention of the Gap kills me

It's magic baby! Magic! They knew how much you wanted it and they were determined to get it straight to you.

And which scarf are we talking about? Cause I have been eying pretty much all of Kurt's scarves and the one Blaine seems to cherish *which I do want* (and I actually saw some guy on the train with it. Nearly dropped my book in shock haha)

The grey one with the red stripes. I wore it today and it may be my favorite thing ever. Like, even without context. It just really is working for me. Bonus hilarity is bonus.

I think they're all gone now from Old Navy -- when someone on [livejournal.com profile] kurt_blaine figured it out, a bunch of us ordered them and now it's listed as sold out. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up on Ebay or something.

FedEx and USPS are now partnering for a lot of deliveries; here in LA if it's not next day early am delivery, every fed-ex package I've gotten in the last few months has been delivered w/ the mail. I kind of like that as the mailman just leaves packages at my apartment door (in the secured building), so no-one wakes me up to sign for stuff.

Forgive me for coming across as extraordinarily stalkerish when I admit that I just spent the last several minutes poring through your journal, looking for the dramatic conclusion of the scarf saga.
I was the creepy creeper who posted the link in K_B and now I feel compelled to share how happy I am to have helped you and the much-coveted scarf find each other. I love a happy ending.
