Oh man, tonight's episode = SO GOOD. SO SO SO SO GOOD.

While everything with Aria has been pitch perfect, this episode in particular almost had me in tears. Everything I ever tried to learn as a fencer is here. It is everything what I did was about or pretended to be about, and it made me miss it. It also made me angry -- at myself and people I've fenced with. Because this, being that little girl, _that's_ what we were fucking playing at in such serious nasty ways with each other. And we can talk about honor and skill and competence and Not Today (and that's such an amazing lesson when you learn to really feel it) all day long, but man, what a reminder of the darkness and bullshit that drove so many of us to try to be really good at what were doing.

Anyway, one of the things I truly love about this show is the deep emotional weight that gets attached not only to every plot, but while making every plot seem like the freaky B-plot only five people in fandom care about. Every story feels just a little bit secret and marginalized, and it builds an amazing whole that way.

Littlefinger is COMPLETELY, COMPLETELY the type of character I would sell my soul to play, but there aren't often female characters like that.

Also, man, Tyrion is the most amazing thing EVER.

So with you on that! It's one of the few times an adaptation of a book I loved does it justice.

Arya's plotline is my favourite as well -- identification material squared! And I also love Tyrion madly.

Littlefinger... Well, Martin has the amazing ability to write scary, horrible people and make you sympathise with them anyway, which I utterly admire.

And of course I'm crossing my fingers you'll get to play someone like him sometime!
