The vote is expected to come in the next hour and a half.

This was, I realized just now in talking to Patty, sort of my first gay rights issue that wasn't AIDS-related. Back in 1990/1991. TWENTY YEARS AGO. OKAY, TWENTY FUCKING YEARS AGO.

But this was also something I never thought I'd see. So many of the people who taught me what it means to be gay aren't here for this.

This thing, that of course, may not even happen. But we really, really think it's going to. There are crowds out all over the city watching -- in Times Square and where the Stonewall Riots happened.

And NY is only one state, but it will double the number of people living in states with marriage equality. We also have no residency requirement for marriage, so we become a destination for more people from other places.

I'm only going to get less coherent.

So yeah. YOU GUYS.

Fuckin' Stonewall. Wow.

So. Yeah. GUYS!

I keep trying to respond to this & I'm not coming up with anything coherent. And it's not nearly as intensely personal to me.

According to the WaPo, Saland has come out in favor of, which makes 32 votes - enough to pass it, if everybody votes they way they've indicated.

No. Only the religious exemption ammendment passed. Final vote hasn't happened yet.

I'm working late and paying attention to Twitter and headlines out of the corner of my eye, hoping and hoping that the news will be good news.

Alex and his former GSA cohorts - former because he graduated two weeks ago - are gathered online in a chat. He is wound so tightly! I suspect there will be an impromptu party at my house tomorrow if this passes.

I'm going to go wash dishes, New York, and when I get back, this better be passed!

(I just sounded a bit like my grandmother there, didn't I?)

Every good thought and favor sent from Louisiana. When I think about something like this happening in my state, I know I won't be here to see it.

Done!

And nice letting the cheers go on before starting to gavel for order.

33-29 much wider margin than expected just mid week.
