Just came back from an excessively lovely barn dance experience with [livejournal.com profile] wordsofastory. Ran into someone from high school (more on that later), and a creepy dude in leather trying to evoke some sort of poetic fantasy but in lacking a poet's shirt was wearing just a crappy white work shirt with his trying too hard ensemble. I still would have felt kindly towards him had he not been inappropriately grabby with me and everyone.

But it was as always inspirational. Although next time we must not go for Mexican foos first. My hair smells like fajitas.

I'm all exhilirated-y and covered in plot bunnies.

Also, dude, these comments are generating a hillarious assortment of Google ads.

Yeah, I'd set it either very early, or right after Alec becomes the duke, because I could see that throwing their relationship all out of whack and them both trying to figure out again how it fits and what works.

Ha! I bet they are. What keyword's winning out for most ads: sex, the whore, or feelings being hurt?

One's abotu Johnny Depp. The others are about figuring out if one is ugly or not. I mean, what is up with that?

That's a good point about the Duke thing, although I wonder if Richard wouldn't let it get as far as this, because he'd have to remind Alec that he can't just buy peopel now. "Oh, but I can," would be the unfortunate response.

Weird. Who knew amihotornot.com and bad-idea sex adventures had anything in common? Actually, when you put it that way, it makes a lot of sense.

Oh, true. Though when they're living in Riverside, Richard seems to know a lot of whores, and I can't imagine he'd let Alec pay someone for sex who was an acquaintance, if not a friend.

Hrmmm, maybe there are details missed. As in, Richard doesn't realize Alec's paying her until things have already started to go very pear-shaped

omg go get some sleep already! you are both suffering from barn-induced madness.

*headshake*

now I'm trying very hard to think about my day, thank you, and not silly r/a/w sex.

Yes, that could work. If you set later, too, I suppose Alec must just talk some poor little kitchen maid into it, instead of hiring someone, but I think Richard would be even more displeased at that.

Yeah. I haven't the time to articulate why right now, but he doesn't seem to have much symapthy for people who bind themselves to the service of another indefinitely or for a less than specific purpose.

Also, going back to the dance figure, makes for easy whispering in people's ears, and what Richard can assume is Alec saying something lewd can be Alec negotiating $$

From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
That feels right to me, too. Richard almost seems to think people who put themselves in service like that do it because they can't or won't take care of themselves, in an idependent sort of way.

Ha, oh, yes. And excellent way too for Alec to find someone who Richard doesn't know is a whore, since he could just watch who Richard recognizes.

The thing is, how does one get Richard to dance or drink in the first place or are we just going with "young" as a theory? New relationship energy has certainly led to stupider.

From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
Yeah, that's the hard part. And really, I'm not certain Alec dances either, though at least it's easy enough to get him drunk.

Date: 2007-02-10 05:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rm.livejournal.com
Well if Alec is drunk, I can see him thinking dancing is a good idea. And if Alec is drunk, I can see Richard thinking trailing closely behind is probably wise.

Heh, good point. And Alec is fairly generous with his intoxicants (at least to Richard); he seems like the kind of drunk who would constantly be telling everyone else to drink more, that they're not drunk enough yet, that they should order another round. Richard doesn't seem particularly susceptible to that sort of pressure, but it might be enough to get him a bit more buzzed than he would be normally, particularly in a new relationship, where he might be trying to impress Alec or not wanting to make a big deal out of refusing.

Do we have a sense of how famous Richard is when they first get together? Has teh reputation happened yet or is he able to be a bit more casual? That is, "oh god, I'll have to drink to deal with this?"

Also, good excuse for one of my favorite little kinks that I've totally not seen in this universe (yay, fandom of five) yet -- which in this case would be Alec kissing Richard with a mouth full of wine.

Date: 2007-02-11 04:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
I think he already has his reputation. Certainly the whole sleeping-his-way-through-the-Hill has to be before he hooks up with Alec, though I suppose he might not be quite as famous in Riverside yet. Even if he's not being recognized by random strangers yet, I'd think people in the know, know him.

Ha! Dude, so funny you say that: I've just been waiting to write Richard sucking spilled alcohol off Alec's wrist or lips or something.

From: [identity profile] rm.livejournal.com
Oh forgot Richard used to be a big whore. I wonder if he was having a fling with someone when Alec turned up. And if he stopped going to the Hill over that?

Well people knowing him is different than Richard feeling like other swordsmen are gunning for him, so to speak, to prove themselves. As in, he can be a bit mroe relaxed in public.

And finally... hi, we share a porn brain. at least on that.

Yeah, Alec is not the only one who's kinda a skank. But oh! That is an excellent idea. And what if it was a noble Alec knows?

I got the impression that people didn't really start going after him until later, though I could be wrong.

It is such a pretty image.

Hahahah. what if Alec were being petty and competative and then found he actually cared about the prize. While Richard was being oblivious.

I had some other thought about this, in my long, delirious, weekend, but I'm not sure what it was, other than a sentence that's a bit too porny for the out of context here.

From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
*grins* Yes, I like that. And it makes as much sense than any other first-time situation I can come up with for the two of them, which is something that continues to drive me crazy.

Oh, come on. There's no such thing as too porny.

Kissing her was nice. And then, when Alec ran his hands down his sides, and over his ass and thighs and then pressed against him -- well, them, really -- it was far nicer. Although, jusdging by his friend's huff of breath and the sudden sharpness with which those fingers dug into Richard's flesh, maybe Alec wasn't quite understanding the extent to which he was teh cause. No matter though, not really, because this, this felt good too.

And this is, in my mind, still in public at wherever they are. It's just making any of it work.

Yeah, there's so many nice scenes and images for this story, it's just trying to fit it all together into a plot that makes sense that I'm having trouble with. I wonder if there isn't something funky you could do with the format- like do a series of brief snapshots- to skip over the hard parts, and not have to write them.

I'm sure there is, which would only lead to this conversation taking place after the story, instead of before it, however. Heh.
