Date: 2007-06-08 04:11 am (UTC)As in, custom for real custom?
Like, I could have a shirt that would fit me?
I can't dress like a man. there's an eleven-inch difference between my bust and my ribcage. It looks stupid when I try to squash things down. I used to dress up in men's clothes all the time as a young adolescent-- my father had no sons, and someone had to go to military reenactments with him, but I really did look pretty funny in Civil War garb-- I was a C cup even then. Not subtle.
... But there are people that custom-make clothes any more, for real???

Date: 2007-06-08 04:25 am (UTC)Lots of people do.
This ranges from stuff like my custom Snape coat I got from Kambriel.com and the Regency men's suit I had made to my measurements by Satin Shadow to things like the folks at eShakti.com, which do hand made to costum measurements Indian and Indian-influenced clothes.
For men's shirts, I like garytailor.com and executivetailor.com and dream of being able to afford http://www.listerouge-paris.com/

Date: 2007-06-07 03:36 pm (UTC)Meanwhile, that third jacket has me thinking about a cosplay idea I had the other day (remember the "1980s militaria" look that was briefly popular in the middle of the decade...?)

Date: 2007-06-07 04:05 pm (UTC)I happened to be looking through some silly book of Duran Duran photos I'd found at the used book store the other day, and - lo and behold - there as a corker of a full-page pic of them draped in braid and pseudo-captain's bars and other such silliness. Unfortunately, right after the giggling died down, the damning words fell out of my mouth "I really should do that, some time..."
God help me if I come up with another 1980s live-action RPG idea... ("Big Brains, Skinny Ties" was bad enough!)
