catching up on the speech
Feb. 25th, 2009 12:36 amBobby Jindal -- WTF?!!?
Katrina? Soviets?
I feel like he just became the Evan Bayh of his party.
Young, full or promise, the next president.... and then, he spoke. And didn't stop talking. When he really should have.
That was so tone deaf.

(The real Bobby Jindal has a goatee!)
I also liked his volcano joke.

I'm amazed that the US gets credit for freeing people that we enslaved ourselves and that Katrina is an illustration of the value of GOP policy eliminating government.
-sigh-
oh, and Americans can do ANYTHING!

Date: 2009-02-25 05:44 am (UTC)He's the governor of Louisiana and has been held up as the hope of the Republican party because he's young, previously considred to be not an idiot, and of color.
But his retor was so totally weird and just... what... invoking Katrina??!?!?!? No one even knows what to say.
It was like a very quiet and more confusing Republican version of the Dean Scream (tm).

Date: 2009-02-25 05:52 am (UTC)I knew that he was the socially conservative Governor of Louisiana, but I had no idea that he'd be speaking nationally, and all I could think of off hand was Shrove Tuesday WTF???
I hope he just killed his political career, that would be nice.

Date: 2009-02-25 11:47 am (UTC)Jindal only won because the Bushies paid for so much advertising for him no one knew anyone else was running.
Did you know he's been making national news for promising to turn down part of the recovery money? For unemployment. We haven't recovered from Katrina, and this recession has hit us as hard or harder than anyone else. We have a GM plant in my city (that makes Hummers), and they may close it completely. Nearby they've closed a paper mill that's been there forever, and cost thousands of people their jobs just before Christmas.
What you saw last night was his first campaign speech for 2012. I'm so angry that he is selling our state short for the purposes of bettering his own political standing with his party.
Governor of my state, but not my governor.
