Bobby Jindal -- WTF?!!?

Katrina? Soviets?

I feel like he just became the Evan Bayh of his party.

Young, full or promise, the next president.... and then, he spoke. And didn't stop talking. When he really should have.

That was so tone deaf.

I'm convinced he comes from the bizarro world where the current GOP is really concerned about Amuricans and not lining the government pockets.

That's how I'm getting to sleep tonight.

(The real Bobby Jindal has a goatee!)

I also liked his volcano joke.

Jindal gave the Republic retort to Obama's speech on the news here (equal time and all that).

He's the governor of Louisiana and has been held up as the hope of the Republican party because he's young, previously considred to be not an idiot, and of color.

But his retor was so totally weird and just... what... invoking Katrina??!?!?!? No one even knows what to say.

It was like a very quiet and more confusing Republican version of the Dean Scream (tm).

It was so creepy.
"Thank you comrade Jindal for our wonderful life!"

I'm amazed that the US gets credit for freeing people that we enslaved ourselves and that Katrina is an illustration of the value of GOP policy eliminating government.

-sigh-

oh, and Americans can do ANYTHING!

Credit for freeing people who would have been free a generation earlier, if the American colonies had not insisted on home rule.
And we will not discuss the mess with Texas.
No, I would not have gone there.
Other subjects to avoid in future: siding with Napoleon, sitting out all but the last 200 days of WWI, getting rich doing business with Hitler, Jim Crow, and burning Toronto to the ground.
Suggested alternatives: Marshal Plan, creating the U.N., establishing freedom of religion, modern music, Star Trek, NASA, being the printing press to the world, and most of the best movies ever( and almost all of the musicals).

I didn't watch last night, but I just read the transcript(s) linked in comments.

Jindal only won because the Bushies paid for so much advertising for him no one knew anyone else was running.

Did you know he's been making national news for promising to turn down part of the recovery money? For unemployment. We haven't recovered from Katrina, and this recession has hit us as hard or harder than anyone else. We have a GM plant in my city (that makes Hummers), and they may close it completely. Nearby they've closed a paper mill that's been there forever, and cost thousands of people their jobs just before Christmas.

What you saw last night was his first campaign speech for 2012. I'm so angry that he is selling our state short for the purposes of bettering his own political standing with his party.

Governor of my state, but not my governor.

I heard this on NPR yesterday, and my first reaction was WTF?!? As the report went on, though, everything you just said became crystal clear.

Part of me is dreading what they'll do -- or try to do -- in 2012.

In fact, Palin may not be quite American enough. Why muck around, GOP? Nominate Coulter/ Jindal now, start campaigning at once. Repeat after next election. And the one after that...

The Katrina reference was so ill placed and ill fitting and was like taking a gun to his own foot.

I'm trying to figure out who decided that would be a good thing.

Because it reminds people of a failure of his party.

Only locally in LA does the Democratic gov of the state at the time receive blame. Because she was in office at the time. But politically on the national stage, it is seen as a Bush failure.

So...the point waaaaaaaas?
