Completely unrelated, but just as much up my nose: Ugh, I hate when gender norms amongst reenactors bite me. I'm just trying to avoid having to make my own breeches, but a woman? in breeches? horror! I may have to make my own. Am annoyed.

I agree with the substance of what you're saying; I'm not sure, though, what you mean by boobs weren't sex objects until the 1920's.

I knew I was gonna get called on that. I was quoting the breastfeeding book, making the point that it wasn't until the GI pin-ups and formula that breasts were seen as primarily/only sex and breastfeeding as something to hide.
