(Also, why do I share? John C Wright is a SF/F pro, and considering most of the consumers of SF/F I know are LGBTQ or allies, I thought you might want to know whose books not to buy).

Yeah, you can shut down the comments, but we can still tell the world you're a bigot who can't construct an argument. One advocates for not paying for you work, the other advocates for not reading it at all.

Like, I think the cultural appropriation there is pretty stated, like "look, these gods/beings come from these cultures, but what happened to them in the US?" (Note: I am only 2/3 of the way through it right now.)
As you say though, YMMV, and I haven't read Anansi Boys. Anyway, I don't expect anyone to be perfect, I just expect them to be conscious and trying, and NG seems to be that, from what I've seen of him.
